Il mio mistero è chiuso in me - Life and operas of Giacomo Puccini. In the heart of the city of Lucca, a stone's throw from the central Piazza San Michele, there is a small street, Via di Poggio, that leads to another small square, called Cittadella, where a statue has stood since 1994, the city's tribute to its greatest son: Giacomo Puccini. It was precisely in Via di Poggio that the young Giacomo was born on 22 December 1858. This volume retraces the Maestro's life, following his artistic path, but also the influences that the various places and encounters had on his production: from his formative years in Lucca and Milan, with the birth of his first operas, to the fame he achieved with Manon Lescaut, up to the unfinished Turandot. All this without neglecting the most complex moments of his life and artistic production, which frequently went through phases of rethinking and more or less substantial modifications.
